ZEN AND THE EXPERIMENTAL ETHNOGRAPHY OF ROBERT E. FULTON

Part of The Croatian Film Association’s “Short Tuesday” Programming

(This selection has been auto-translated from Croatian.)

The new season of Short Tuesday will open on September 28th at the Tuškanac Cinema in Zagreb, at 9 PM, with a program of films by one of the iconic figures of the American film avant-garde - Robert E. Fulton, who unfortunately and undeservedly did not reach the fame and status of his friends and colleagues such as Jonas Mekas and Stan Brakhage. This professional pilot was one of the most famous aerial cameramen and photographers in the 1970s and 1980s, engaged in work on many commercials, music videos and nature documentaries (he even won an Emmy Award in 1997 for the film 'Denali: Alaska's Great Wilderness'), but in his 'spare time' he filmed and directed (...and edited and musically decorated) about fifty fascinating experimental ethnographic films, in which he 'captures' poetic images of people, animals, nature and technology in a unique way, while guided by the principles of Buddhism. On Short Tuesday, we will look at six of his most impressive works, of which we single out the poetic dedication to Peru - 'Inca Light'.

The program is organized by the Croatian Film Association, and admission is 25 kn. We play the films from HD files. Special thanks to Florence Fulton and Federico Rossino for the realization of the program.
